A couple of weeks ago, I did an once in a lifetime interview with the writer, Thomas Overton, on his journey as an urban fiction writer. In this interview, Overton discussed his many projects such as screenplays, feature films, and novels he has written. One of the novels that he spoke about is called MURDER WITH A DEADLY WEAPON. This novel had such a catchy name that it encouraged me to read it.
In the novel, MURDER WITH A DEADLY WEAPON, a Glock nine-millimeter is stolen from a pawnshop by two vindictive robbers. This starts the outrageous journey of criminality with this gun. The glock is passed around different neighborhoods, and is the vice of violent criminal activities. It is up to Detectives’ Peterson and James to trace the trail of this ‘deadly’ weapon.
If you’re into urban fiction, suspense, and or action-felt books, you will enjoy reading this novel. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, as you continuously flip its many pages. Overton will have you believing that you’re apart of the story-line, as you delve into this dramatized book. This book allows the readers to experience different scenarios from the gun’s point of view, which is difficult for many writers to do. It opens up your mind to the many wonders of what it would be like as a gun, and the many hands it comes in contact with. Any book that allows the readers to explore the viewpoints of the antagonist, protagonist, and the outside forces these two parties effect, is usually a great read. Overton gives the viewpoint of the robbers, the gun, the detectives, and the people living in the neighborhoods where the gun is being circumvented. This story is an amazing read, and I look forward to finishing it, as soon as possible.
