We’re back this week with our Expectation Breakers of the Week. This has to be one of my favorite posts that we do each week. We take our time out to find young inspiring leaders in our everyday communities, especially those that we see doing phenomenal things on social media sites like Instagram, and share their outstanding acts in a blog post. These people use their amazing gifts and their love for their crafts and share it with the world. This week we are celebrating three expectation breakers thriving in their crafts, @Mr_Bankshot, @NiquetheModel, and @Screenwriteher_.
Nick Banks, best known as @Mr_Bankshot on Instagram and Vine, is an extraordinary comedian from Ohio. He takes everyday situations and creatively makes a parody based on his perspective. I first noticed his comedic acts on a Instagram page called @PastorFlavor. This parody page is of @Mr_Bankshot playing two different roles, Pastor Flavor and Mother Davis. Banks uses recent and older songs to express the importance of tithing in church. He does it in such a poetic and clever way that you can’t help but cry with laughter. On his Instagram, Banks also highlights other young, talented comedians, and offers promotional videos for song artists, etc. To experience the talent of Nick Banks follow him on Instagram @Mr_Bankshot, @PastorFlavor; follow his Vine @Mr_Bankshot; and watch his videos on YouTube: NJbanks1188.
Next we have @NiquetheModel. Based on his Instagram name it is quite obvious what his craft is. Nique is a prolific model with a sophisticated meets urban chic swag. His ability to convert and camouflage into any style to model innovative clothes is an art. Nique is a Savannah State University alumnus that graduated in Fall 2014. He is apart of the astounding Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and brotherhood, exuding power in his approach to notoriety. Besides being a passionate model, Nique is also an actor, in which he starred in videos, magazines, and the movie “Magic Mike”. If you haven’t noticed by now how ambitious this young model is, then maybe you should follow his art on Instagram @NiquetheModel, along with other social media sites like Twitter, YouTube and Facebook, under the same profile name.
Last but never least, we have Miss Nakia Stephens, @Screenwriteher_. Nakia Stephens is a self-proclaimed executionist, from Atlanta, Georgia, that executes creative art in films through screenwriting, directing, and producing. She is apart of the stimulating production team @DamnWriteOriginals that has produced films such as “Muse”, a webseries “Life Under Construction”, and recently sold out film “Suga Water”. These trailers can be viewed on YouTube. As a Savannah State University alumnus, Nakia illustrates the SSU motto “You Can Get Anywhere From Here”, because that is what she is doing! It is refreshing to see young Black women like Nakia Stephens in Media, especially making films. As an Indie filmmaker, director, and screenwriter, she allows her passion for creative writing to come alive on the screen with such grace and ease. I know Miss Stephens along with the @DamnWriteOriginals team are ecstatic on the production of their new work, after having a sold out screening of “Suga Water” on September 1st. I wish you guys the best on future and present success. And thank you Nakia Stephens for showcasing your art to the world!
These three young people @Mr_Bankshot, @NiquetheModel, and @Screenwriteher_ are forces to be reckoned with, and are pure examples of expectations breakers. All three are college educated, hard-working executors, and passionate about their crafts. Whatever they do turns into greatness because there are no limitations in their way. Job well done!
