The rise and spread of terrorism has changed every corner of the world in all aspects of life. The significance of strengthening national security, social culture, transportation, and even the livelihood of economics has become the world’s main focus in the last 10-20 years. It is obvious that terrorism has been prevalent in the world for centuries, but with the advancement of technology and media, the accessibility and influence terrorism has had on nations around the world is at an all time high.
The greater the influence, the greater the impact will equate a greater exploitation of terrorism. After the 9/11 attack on U.S. soil by Al Qaeda, terrorism has made western nations reshape their homeland and national security not only on their soil but where ever their people are located. Specific terrorists groups such as ‘radical Islamic” terrorists has been the priority for elimination, which has caused the need to profile certain cultures, religions, and people that ‘so called’ meet such criteria. But terrorists don’t possess a specific race, culture, and or face, which many western states are seeing.
No one is exempted from terrorists acts, and today we are most definitely seeing this. In the last two or three years there has been terrorists attacks in Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia, India, Paris, Syria, and Iraq, just to name a few. There have been over three hundred documented terrorists attacks in this year alone that we supposedly know of, there could have been more. Seeing the world slowly deteriorate because of the hate in certain people, which is influenced by politics and exploitation of ‘superior’ nations over other nations is sad. Social media has allowed people to spread unity and show support for nations affected by terrorism emerging from all around the world, but it has also provoked speculations that some nations are being sympathized and recognized more than others. At the end of the day, it’s great to #PrayforParis , #PrayforNigeria , #PrayforKenya , and so on and so forth. For me, I will just say #PRAYFORTHEWORLD because we are all interconnected and suffer from violent acts from violent people . Let’s recognize and show love to all. We are ALL affected by terrorism!
